Update: October 25, 2023
Tree removal has begun along Main Street West/County Road 40 for a project the City is doing in partnership with Great River Greening. The City was awarded grant funding from the Environmental & Natural Resources Trust Fund and the Outdoor Heritage Fund, both of which are State funded programs. In total, the City received $362,900 for creek stabilization, natural habitat creation, and creek bed erosion protection.
This project was permitted by the Carver County Water Management Organization, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, and the US Army Corps of Engineers.
Work is anticipated to be done on site this fall and a planting event in the spring as part of the project. The trees being removed on site are installed in the creek bank use a toe wood method.
