2020 Audit
The City Council approved and accepted the 2020 Audited Financial Statement from Abdo, Eick & Meyers. State law requires the City to have an independent party conduct an annual audit of the previous year’s financial statements.
RFQ For City Attorney Services
The City Council approved a “Request for Qualifications for City Attorney Services” document for City Attorney Services. The City operates as a Statutory B municipality, otherwise known as the Council-Manager form of government. As a Statutory B municipality, the City Council is responsible for appointing the City Manager and City Attorney. The City of Carver’s long-time City Attorney, Larry Harris of Melchert Hubert Sjodin, recently announced his retirement, effective June 30, 2021.
$1.25 Million Grant for 6th St. W.
The City Council adopted a Resolution accepting a $1,250,000 Grant from the State of Minnesota for 6th St. W. In March 2021, the City applied for the 2020 Local Road Improvement Program (LRIP), administered by the Minnesota Department of Transportation, which makes available up to $1,250,000 toward projects on local roads that are regionally significant, result in safety improvements, address transportation deficiencies, and contribute to economic development. Construction for the project is planned for 2022.
Ironwood Park Development
The City Council was provided an update from Erin Smith, Community Development Director, on a process to develop the remaining portions of Ironwood Park. The City Council and Parks Commission will be meeting in a joint session on June 21 to kick off the project.
American Rescue Plan
The City is expecting to receive $529,830 in American Rescue Plan funding. Over the course of the next few weeks, City staff will be working on a list of potential uses for this funding to present to City Council.
