Meeting Date: May 1, 2023
The City Council Meeting Rundown is intended to be used as an informal summary of Work Session and Regular Meeting highlights. For complete details on all agenda items, official meeting minutes, or to watch a video of the meeting, visit Watch City Meetings.
Municipal State Aid Streets: The City Council officially added the former Carver County Road 40, now managed by the City of Carver, to the Municipal State Aid Street Program. The action taken by the City Council now makes sections of Old Carver Road, 4th Street East, Broadway Street, and Main Avenue West eligible for state aid funding for future maintenance and improvement needs along the corridor.
Ordinance Update: The City Council took action to update regulations for peddlers, solicitors, transient merchants, and mobile food units (food trucks / trailers). For more information on the changes made, please visit www.cityofcarver.com.
Riverside Park: The City Council supported a staff proposal to designate no mow / natural habitat areas in Riverside Park. The City will continue to provide traditional park maintenance in the campsite, archery, and boat landing areas, however, the balance of the park will be left to grow in its natural habitat. Seasonal staff will be redirected for additional maintenance of playground and landscaped areas throughout the City. In addition, the City continues to work on grant funding to formally transition areas within Riverside Park to native plantings, creating natural trails and wildlife observation opportunities.
Long-Term Financial Plan: The City Council was briefed on impending work to update the Long-Term Financial Plan. The 2024–2033 plan update will identify future equipment, infrastructure, staffing, operations, and maintenance needs. The Plan process includes an assessment and prioritization of these needs based on the impact to property taxes and utility charges.
