Alternative Claim Response / Water Pressure Surge Events: The City Council took action to adopt an “Alternative Claim Response” connected with two water pressure surge events that occurred earlier this year. The City’s insurance provider contracted to have an independent liability assessment performed on the event, with the report finding the City not liable for any damages associated with the pressure surge events. The analysis subsequently led the City’s insurance provider to deny all thirty-two (32) claims that were submitted on account of the pressure surge events.
As a result, City Council approved an “Alternative Claim Response” that will reimburse costs up to $2,000, directly attributable to the pressure surge events. For costs exceeding $2,000, impacted property owners would be required to submit a claim through their own homeowner’s insurance, with the City reimbursing the associated deductible connected with the claim.
